The neighbors of singer Ed Sheeran have complained that his so-called wildlife pond was turned into a party pool. Aerial pictures of his Suffolk estate showed he had built what look like steps, a changing room, and a jetty to dive off.
His planning application for the pond was to “support nature conservation… providing a natural habitat for breeding and wetland invertebrates such as dragonflies and water beetles, as well as providing a source of drinking water to birds and mammals.”
When approved back in 2016 it was made clear it will not have other recreational uses like swimming. Moreover, it seems that East Suffolk council gave permission for the jetty and steps in order to allow access to the pond in the case of maintenance or emergency.
However, Sheeran’s angry neighbors believe they are for a swimming pool and have written a formal complaint to officials. His neighbors, Kenny and Carol Cattee who have complained previously about loud music on the estate, are saying:
“The so-called wildlife pond would now appear to be more like a swimming pool, which is somewhat different from the application.”
Ed’s representatives have been contacted but they have declined to comment so far.
